Cotton goods from India

Cotton bags and home textiles made to your specification, from Bengal's printers and stitchers and from makers across India.

Printed cotton fabrics in blue, green, ochre and rust hanging in a row

Cotton is on our trade licence beside leather, jute and hessian, and Bengal does a great deal with it. Printers work carved wooden blocks along the cloth, kantha makers quilt with rows of running stitches, and stitching units turn out plain canvas and cotton bags.

Send us what the goods must be: sizes, cotton weight, colours, print, washing needs, and any sustainability goals, such as organic or recycled cotton or low-impact dyes. We hold no certificates ourselves, so for claims like these we ask the maker for the documents that prove them. If no maker we can find meets your standard, we say so rather than guess.

What we can source

What Bengal's cotton weavers, printers and stitchers make today. A sourcing list, not stock, and no claim of past orders.

For another cotton product, ask. If we cannot find a maker in India who makes it well, we will tell you.

What we watch for

Cotton has its own ways of going wrong. It can shrink in the wash, some dyes run, and a print that looks sharp on a screen can spread on a loose weave.

So the specification covers more than size and colour. It names the weight of the cotton, how the goods will be washed and what the colours must survive, and the goods are inspected against it before they ship.

Questions about cotton goods

Do cotton bags and cushion covers need a fibre label in the EU?

Textile products with at least 80% textile fibre by weight need a fibre-composition label when sold in the EU, such as "100% cotton". The Commission's FAQ says bags that count as fancy goods or travel goods of textile are exempt, and that the EU has no specific labelling law for leather goods beyond the textile and footwear rules. Check each item against the regulation's Annex V list.

Can cotton goods from India be held by US Customs?

They can be, if any part traces back to Xinjiang. US Customs applies a presumption that goods made wholly or in part in Xinjiang, or by listed entities, are made with forced labour and may not be imported (CBP, page updated 14 Sep 2026). For cotton goods, get the yarn and fibre origin in writing before you order; we can ask the mill for it.

How an order runs is set out on the home page. When you are ready, tell us the cotton item, the quantity, the country, and whether it is printed or plain. We reply by email within a working day.
